President and Founder

Dr. Ronald A. Eichel is founder and president of The Children’s Dental Center of Atlanta.
Born in New York City, Eichel has lived in several U.S. cities. He attended the University
of Tennessee in Knoxville from 1959-1962 for pre-dental studies before earning his Doctor
of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1965.
Following graduation, Dr. Eichel entered the U.S. Army as a Captain in the Dental Corp and
served in both France and Germany. After completing his tour, he received his Masters Degree
in Pediatric Dentistry at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. He then established
his private pediatric dentistry practice in Dunwoody in 1969. Dr. Eichel is an active member
of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Georgia Association of Pediatric Dentists,
American Dental Association and the Georgia Dental Association.

Director of Special Care Dentistry

"Dr. Teddy" is a native
of Atlanta. He received his undergraduate, dental and post-graduate training at Emory University.
He has been in the exclusive practice of Pediatric Dentistry since 1959 after spending nine years
in a pediatric - general dentistry practice. In 1963, he re-entered Emory University Dental School
on a part-time basis to secure his MSD degree.
He completed that course in 1966. For the last 18 years, his emphasis has been devoted to the care
of Special Needs and Medically Compromised Children. He is a Diplomate of The American Board of
Special Care Dentistry. “Dr. Teddy” has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally
as well as having contributed to literature.
He is privileged to have served as President of The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, The
American Society of Dentistry for Children and as the first dentist to become President of The
Medical-Dental Staff of Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital... now known as Children’s Healthcare
of Atlanta. He has been recognized by many dental organizations for his contributions to the
profession. “Dr. Teddy” and his wife Miriam have six sons, one daughter, two daughters-in-law,
one son-in-law and four grandchildren.
Mitchell D. Vaughan, D.D.S.

Dr. Mitchell D.
Vaughan earned his B.A. in biology at Hendrix College in Arkansas. He graduated from the University of
Tennessee’s College of Dentistry in 2001 before joining the faculty for one year as a clinical instructor
in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry.
Following his two-year residency in pediatric dentistry there, Dr. Vaughan joined The Children’s Dental
Center of Atlanta in 2004.
He is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry,
Georgia Dental Association, Northern District Dental Society and the Southeastern Society of Pediatric
Dentistry.
Priya Dixit-Chitre, D.D.S., M.P.H.

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Priya Dixit Chitre
completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Natural
Sciences. Following this, she received a Master of Public Health degree from the University
of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health with a focus on community health services.
She then earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. Following dental school, she completed a two-year, specialty-
training, program in pediatric dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Dixit Chitre joined the Children’s Dental Center of Atlanta after spending five years in
private practice in Pittsburgh, PA and also as Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatric
Dentistry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. She is also a member of the
American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Sharon M. DeSouza, D.M.D.

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. DeSouza completed her undergraduate
degree, dental school, and a 2-½ year pediatric residency in India. She moved to the United States in 1996 and graduated with
honors from Boston University School of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.).
She was awarded a lifetime membership to O.K.U, a dental Honor Society. She and her husband and daughter love to travel together.
Together, they have lived in and visited over 5 continents and 16 countries.
Yoo Mee Kim, D.D.S.

Born and raised in Guam, Dr.
Yoo Mee Kim left home at 14 to attend Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH. Since then, she’s moved
every fours years to a new city.
She received a degree in English literature from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, her Doctor
of Dental Surgery degree from Columbia University in New York City, and completed her pediatric dental
residency at the University of Southern California – Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. She enjoys
music, reading, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
Her most recent travel was to South Africa and Kenya for dental missions. She is excited about
acquiring an African drum of which she has yet to learn. She is an active member of the American
Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Shiva Hejazi-Werner

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Shiva Hejazi-Werner completed
her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, Canada in 1992 with a B.Sc. double majoring with
Distinction in Biochemistry and Human Biology. In 1996, she earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from
New York University and was selected on the Dean’s List and was awarded membership to O.K.U., a dental Honor
Society. In 1998, she completed a year of General Practice residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham
(U.A.B.). In 2001, she earned a Master of Public Health degree (M.P.H.) with concentration in Epidemiology from
U.A.B. After 6 years of General Private Practice in Birmingham, AL and Atlanta she returned to school and completed
her pediatric dental residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, CT in 2006.
Dr. Hejazi-Werner is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is Board Certified by the American
Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr Hejazi-Werner, her husband Karsten and their newborn son Christian live in Woodstock, GA.

Dr. Hans J. Andringa received
his dental degree (D.D.S.) in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and practiced General Dentistry in Holland and
in Germany for 8 years. He obtained his Pediatric Dentistry certificate (P.D.), and acquired his U.S. Dental
degree (D.M.D.), plus his Masters in Oral Biology (M.S.) at The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA.
Dr. Andringa is a member of the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, American Academy
of Pediatric Dentistry, and the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Andringa is dedicated to
providing the highest quality dentistry possible. He also makes every attempt to make your child’s dental
visits as pleasant and positive as possible.

Dr. Goldman received his
Bachelor of Arts degree from Birmingham Southern College. He later attended the University of Alabama,
where he received his D.M.D. He completed his Pediatric Dental Residency at The Children’s Hospital in
Birmingham, Alabama.
Dr. Goldman served as a Captain in the US Air Force. He was the past president of the Georgia Society
of Pediatric Dentistry and the South Fulton Study Club. He is a member of the American Dental Association,
the Northern District Dental Society, and the Southeastern Society of Pedodontists.

Dr. Treff graduated from Eastern
Washington University with a bachelor of science degree in Biology and Chemistry. He then attended Seattle
Central Community College and received a Certificate in Surgical Technology. Dr. Treff received his D.D.S.
from New York University College of Dentistry, and completed his pediatric dental residency at Louisiana
State University Health Sciences Center. Currently, Dr. Treff is self-learning Spanish and Guitar.
Dr. Treff enjoys golfing and studying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He is a big college football fan, likes to cook,
and loves watching HGTV.
Kathleen Kwon, DMD

Dr. Kwon was born in Seoul,
South Korea, but grew up in Marietta, GA. She completed her B.S. in Biology at UGA. She earned a
D.M.D. degree at the Medical College of Georgia and pursued a dental specialty in pediatrics at
Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Kwon was one of the chief residents
during her second year of residency.

Dr. Garrett graduated with
a B.S. in Biology from UGA in 2003. In May 2008, she received her D.M.D. degree from the Medical College
of Georgia. She completed a two year residency in pediatric dentistry at the Medical College of Georgia
in June 2010. Dr. Garrett is originally from Macon, Georgia. During her free time, she enjoys traveling,
reading, running and spending time with friends and family.

Pediatric Dentist, is from Chicago, IL. She completed her undergraduate training at Xavier University of
Louisiana in 2002, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry. She attended Howard
University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. where she earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in
2006. After dental school, she completed one year of General Practice Registry at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital
center. From there, she completed a two-year residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Staten Island University
Hospital in Staten Island, NY. Dr. Deanna Haynes has a true passion for children and their overall health.
She loves her interaction with her patients , every day, because they always bring a smile to her face. She
couldn’t imagine doing anything else but having fun being a Pediatric Dentist.
In her spare time she likes dancing, singing (though unable to do it in key), watching love stories, going to
restaurants, traveling, giving back to her community, and spoiling her dog. She is a member of the American

Pushpa Sundareswaren, D.M.D., M.D.S

Born in Bombay, India, Dr.
Pushpa Sundareswaran completed her undergraduate and graduate dental studies at the University of
Bombay in 1995. Following a year-long internship, she graduated with a Masters in Pediatric Dentistry
(M.D.S.) from the University of Bombay in 1998.
After moving to the U.S. in 1999, she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the University
of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and joined The Children’s Dental Center of Atlanta in 2002.

Sascha Walters, DDS

Dr. Walters graduated
from Florida International University where she studied biology. She went on to receive her
Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, and completed her
pediatric dental residency at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Dr. Nelson Allen
is originally from Detroit, MI. He completed his undergraduate studies at Morehouse
College in Atlanta, GA. He then returned to Detroit to complete his doctorate of dental
surgery at The University of Detroit-Mercy School of Dentistry.
After completing his DDS in 2003, he moved to New York where he completed a two year
general practice residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital. After spending a year in private
practice he decided to pursue his dream of becoming a pediatric dentist and returned to
Bronx-Lebanon Hospital to matriculate through the pediatric dental residency program.
Dr. Allen is a board certified pediatric dentist and has been working at Children's Dental
Center of Atlanta since he graduated from his pediatric dental residency program in 2008.
